Bitcoin Allocation for Private Investors

Veritas Bitcoin Strategies advises individuals and families with $5 million or more in investable assets who are evaluating a Bitcoin allocation but do not yet operate a family office. The firm's approach is the same one it applies to institutions: size the position to the loss the investor can absorb, hold it in a structure the investor understands, and document the decision so it can be explained later.

How the firm approaches private investor allocations

Sizing starts with the loss test rather than a benchmark percentage. An allocation is prudent when a severe decline would not change the investor's life or force a sale of something else at the wrong time. From there, the work is vehicle choice and custody: spot Bitcoin ETFs in an existing brokerage account, direct Bitcoin held with a qualified custodian, or risk-managed structures, each with different trade-offs in simplicity, custody responsibility, tax treatment, and estate transfer.

Because the IRS treats digital assets as property, and because direct Bitcoin requires access and authority arrangements that must survive death or incapacity, the firm coordinates with the investor's CPA and estate attorney from the start rather than after the position exists.
